Pefect Highchair

We got these booster seats/highchairs for the girls and we just love them. The tray comes with a removable play insert. This keeps the girls occupied while I prepare their food and then again after they eat, as we clean up. It's lightweight, easy to clean and very portable. They fit on most chairs very well. The only disclaimer I have is to be careful when washing the play insert. It has stickers on it and I made the mistake of getting it to wet and the stickers came off.

Great Mother's Day Gift (hint, hint Dad's!)

My husband got me one of these bracelets for my birthday last month. I LOVE it. It's comfortable, modern and subtle. Mine has my twin girls initials. You can wear it around the clock and even in the shower. My husband found the site very easy to use and the customer service was great. I highly recommend them!

Robeez - LOVE 'EM

I knew nothing about Robeez when my daughters were born. We received them as a gift, and they are now one of the best gifts we received! They are genuine leather and while the price is high for a pair of baby shoes (retails for about $40), they are well worth it. They are easy to get on and off because of the elastic backing. They are soft and pliable and come in a great variety of adorable styles and colors for baby boys and baby girls. I know that the Gap now sells them in their stores, but you can also find them on the robeez web site. They currently have a promotion to buy 2 pairs and get free shipping.

These shoes are highly recommended by pediatricians because of their very soft soles. Ideally, pediatricians would love babies to go barefoot all the time until they are walking, but we know that's not always practical or as fun! These shoes are just like being barefoot.

EDIT: Nordstrom's now has free shipping and most Robeez are $27.95!

A Safer Baby Wash

I'm sickened by the ingredients that are added to our baby's products. There are so many parts of being a parent that are out of my control, that I must do what I can do keep my girls safe. You can read more about how most baby products out on the market now are unsafe, just by googling "safe baby wash". You can also see how your current product scores on the safety list at the Skin Deep website.

I was on a quest for a reasonably priced "safer" product line as well as one that I could buy at a brick and mortar instead of paying shipping fees. I came across the California Baby line, that you can find at your local Whole Foods Market. I purchased the lavendar scent which has a safety number of "2". The sensitive skin formula is rated even better at "1". The large pump was about $20, and should last me a very long time. The tiniest bit goes very far. The essential oils have a wonderful spa-like smell that isn't too overpowering. I am really happy with the shampoo, lotion and SPF.

Baby-safe Coffee Table

I've been on a quest for a "safe" coffee table for our living room for when the girls become mobile. Our living room is modern and I try to stay clutter-free. This ottoman at Target, is leather padded and just the right height for our 5 month olds to hold on to when standing. It is also serves as extra seating for visitors and extra storage for baby items we like to keep in our living room. It's a little small, so we purchased two and set them side by side. They are currently on sale at Target for $60 and also available in brown.

Save Handmade Childrens Toys and Apparel

Please help save small businesses like mine.

The Consumer Product Safety Information Act (CPSIA) is due to take effect on February 10, 2009. The CPSIA has lots of different requirements regarding testing for lead and phthalates of all products (including organic clothing) intended for children age 12 and under. Under the very important auspices of child safety, the Act may have grave unintended consequences: fewer choices for families who are looking for organic clothing and natural toys. Many retailers of children's clothing (including small businesses like mine) have expressed fears that they won't be able stay in business due to the burdensome cost of testing and certification pursuant to the proposed legislation.

Here at Lil' LJ, we know the product we are supplying complies to these laws and is safe for your lil' ones. However, as the law is currently written and understood, we may not be able to afford the costs associated with third party testing of our products. They are requiring an "end product" test, which with personalized items, is an impossibility. The tests can run up to $4000 per product line. With fines upwards of $100,000, it's a risk we can't take.

Currently there is a lot of uncertainty about how exactly this law will "look" once February 10 arrives, and lawmakers are at work clarifying the details.

There is still time - time to email Congress, spread the word so we can all be informed, and stock up on favorite cotton and organic clothing and natural toy items that may be difficult to buy in America in the future. We may find increased costs in all aspects of the children's markets from this law and you will find it impossible to purchase a knit hat for your child at your next craft show.

For more information, please check the following link:

I hope to continue to provide a safe and unique product to you after February 10, 2008. This has been a dream of mine to create this clothing line and I will do everything I can to keep my business!

Sincerely,
Loree

Carriers for Your Lil' One

My two favorites are the Baby Bjorn and Moby Wrap. I love how easy the Bjorn is to get baby in and out and love how comfy the Moby Wrap is. The Moby Wrap does take some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's a great way to keep baby happy and close to you. If you do a search on YouTube, you can find a couple of tutorial videos. It does claim that you can use it for twins, but it just didn't seem to work for us. Both of these allow you to get some things done around the house knowing that your baby is safe and happy. My Emma didn't like the Moby Wrap at first, but will now fall asleep in it. And she loves to now face forward in the Baby Bjorn. Our Baby Bjorn is a hand me down, and if you can't afford one, the Moby Wrap is a great alternative for around $40.00.

The Wubbanub

My girls love these furry little friends. They were given to us as gifts in the NICU and we just adore them. They come in a few different styles which include a pink horse, penguin and red dog. You can visit the wubbanub site for more information and to find a retailer.

Welcome to My Lil' Monkey

or in my case... My Lil' Monkeys! My name is Loree and I'm the mother of twin girls. I started this blog to help new moms of singletons and multiples. We all want the best for our kids and the best recommendations are usually from other moms. No child is the same, no mother the same, so what I or my group of moms think is best for them may not be best for you, but we all need a reference to start from and who better than other moms. I hope to update the blog weekly with products and advice I think you will love and appreciate.

My style is trendy and modern (on a budget) and I tend to gravitate toward organic and sustainable items.

I hope you find this blog helpful and pass it on to other amazing moms!
